A tubular drive hides inside the roller tube. The key figure is the torque in newton metres: it is selected from the area and weight of the curtain, not by eye. A light roller blind of 1.5 × 2 m manages on a 6 Nm motor, while an exterior screen of 4 × 3 m needs 20–30 Nm. The second thing that matters is the limit switches: mechanical ones are set with buttons on the motor, electronic ones with a cable or a remote — but they set more precisely and do not drift.
A wired switch is the cheapest option, but a cable has to reach the window. Radio saves chasing out walls: a handheld remote, a wall-mounted button or a smartphone. The protocol cannot be chosen at random: Somfy RTS, Somfy io, Elero 868 and WIN Control 868 + ZigBee do not work with one another. The remote has to belong to the same system as the motor.
A sun sensor lowers the shading when the sun comes round onto the facade — the house has no time to heat up, even with nobody at home. A wind sensor raises an exterior screen or awning as the wind picks up: this is not a convenience but a warranty condition — without it the manufacturer withdraws the guarantee on the fabric. A rain sensor is needed for pergolas with a fabric roof.

No. Somfy RTS, Somfy io, Elero 868 and WIN Control 868 + ZigBee are different radio protocols and do not work with one another. The remote has to belong to the same system as the motor. If you do not know the make of the motor, send us a photo of the markings on the housing or the drive head.
By the area and weight of the curtain: the larger and heavier it is, the higher the torque. We calculate from the manufacturer's technical data sheets, which give the permissible class for every system. If you are unsure, send us the sizes and the type of product and we will work it out.
The wind picks up faster than you can press a button, and often when nobody is home. The sensor retracts the fabric by itself. Formally: without a wind sensor the manufacturer withdraws the guarantee on the fabric and guides of exterior systems.
Often yes — provided the system is designed for an electric drive and there is room for a motor in the tube. We check at the survey: tube diameter, curtain weight and where the power can be brought in. Sometimes replacing the whole system costs less than converting it — and we will say so plainly.
No. The cable to the window is run by the client's electrician — a separate trade with separate liability. At the survey we tell you where the cable is needed and what type, and we connect the motor to the point once it is there.
