Exterior venetian blinds → fabric screens

Facade screens Aluprof: 21 systems

from 145 € incl. VAT · ZIP up to 7 m wide

Exterior fabric solar shading: the fabric stops the sun before it ever reaches the glass, so the room simply does not heat up. ZIP systems ZiiiP hold the fabric in zipped guides and are not troubled by wind, cassette systems R 125 / R 120 / R 103 cover openings up to 4.5 m, marquisolettes add an awning above the window, and horizontal Veranda units cover glass roofs and conservatories. We quote from the manufacturer's 2026 price list including VAT.

How it works

Fabric on the outside — the heat never reaches the glass

An interior blind cuts out the light, but the heat is already in: the sun has passed through the glazing and warmed the air in the room. An exterior screen stops the radiation before the glass — according to solar shading manufacturers this is several times more effective than any interior fabric. In summer the air conditioning runs less; in winter, fabric lowered for the night adds a layer of air at the window.

A screen is a fabric curtain on a roller inside an aluminium cassette. It runs down guides or cables alongside the window and does not stop you opening the sash inwards. The fabric is not solid: screens have an openness factor — from 1 % to 5 %, so during the day you can see the street while you are almost invisible from outside, and the room keeps its daylight instead of going dark.

ZiiiP ZIP systems — for windy sites

In an ordinary screen the fabric is held by cables or open guides: in a strong wind it flaps and can pull out of the guides, so the system has to be raised. In a ZIP system (ZiiiP) a welded keder along the fabric edges runs inside the guide like a zip: the fabric is tensioned around the whole perimeter, cannot billow out, and leaves no gaps at the sides — no mosquitoes get in and no light leaks through. ZiiiP 120 covers up to 700 cm of width (coupled curtain), ZiiiP 95 — the compact version for narrow openings, ZiiiP BOX hides under render or within the insulation layer, ZiiiP 160 is designed for the SB450 pergola and an area of up to 16 m².

Cassette systems and marquisolettes

The classic cassette systems are R 125 (height up to 425 cm), R 120, R 103 (width up to 450 cm), R 95, R 90 and the compact R 76. Some of them also work without a motor — with a crank handle. Marquisolettes 120 and 103 are built differently: the top of the fabric is carried forward on a 63 cm bracket, forming a small awning against the high summer sun, while below it the fabric runs vertically and covers the window.

Horizontal Veranda systems

For conservatories, glass roofs and terraces there are horizontal systems: Veranda — up to 450 × 500 cm, and Veranda V ZiiiP with pneumatic fabric tensioning, a structure to PN-EN 13561 and a Somfy io or Cherubini Nemo Blue motor already included in the price.

Drive and automation

Motors, remotes and sensors

Drives

Some systems work with a crank handle (folding aluminium, standard length 180 cm) — cheaper and with no need for wiring. The rest come with a motor only.

The price list covers three motor manufacturers: Aluprof (M35, M45, MH45 — mechanical limit switches, DM45EAF/S — electronic), Elero (VariEco, SunTop, SunTop 868 with radio) and Somfy (LT 50 Jet, Altus 50 WT, Altus RTS, Sunilus io, Maestria with obstacle detection). Torque is selected by the area and weight of the curtain: the larger the curtain, the higher the Nm.

Controls

A wired switch Inis — is the simplest option. Radio: Somfy RTS (Situo, Smoove, Telis), io-homecontrol (Situo io, TaHoma Switch — smartphone control and scenes), Elero 868 (MonoTec, QuinTec, Combio). The calculator only shows the remotes that suit the motor you have chosen.

Sensors are not a luxury

A wind sensor (Eolis RTS or io) raises the fabric as the wind picks up: it protects the fabric and the guides alike, and on exposed coastal sites it pays for itself in the first storm. A sun sensor (Sunis, Soliris) lowers the screen when the sun comes round onto the facade — the house has no time to heat up, even with nobody at home.

What the system price includes

The cassette or headbox, guides or cables with brackets, the weighted bottom bar and the fabric. A structure colour from the Aluprof palette is included in the price, a colour outside the palette carries a surcharge per order: 300 € for 1–4 systems, 400 € for 5–9, 500 € for 10–20, and no surcharge from 21 systems (price-list rates, to which VAT is added).

Priced separately: drive and controls, additional brackets (16 € adjustable, 12 and 14 € telescopic), Serge 600 BO Lunar blackout fabric (+7 %) and Aluprof delivery — 200 € per order, not per unit; when a full load is being assembled delivery is free of charge, but the lead time is longer.

Installation

From survey to finished facade

Survey

Our fitter arrives with the technical data sheets: he checks the type of facade, the insulation, the reveal depth and where the headbox will sit. On a building site we agree the fixings for concealed installation in advance — far cheaper than any rework later.

Production

Manufacture takes 3–5 weeks; colours outside the Aluprof palette take longer. ZIP systems in ZOOMTECH technology take about 5 weeks.

Installation

Brackets are fitted at no more than 100 cm centres (70 cm for G31 guides). Connecting the motor and setting the end positions is our job; the power supply to the window is provided by the client.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about facade screens

How does a ZIP screen differ from an ordinary one?
In a ZIP system the fabric edges run in the guides like a zip: the fabric is tensioned around the whole perimeter, does not flap in the wind, cannot billow out, leaves no gaps at the sides and keeps insects out. In an ordinary screen the fabric runs on cables or in open guides — cheaper, but in a strong wind the system has to be raised.
What is the maximum size?
ZiiiP 120 — up to 700 cm wide (coupled curtain) at heights up to 400 cm; ZiiiP 160 for the SB450 pergola — up to 600 cm and an area of 16 m²; Screen XXL — up to 450 × 500 cm; R 103 — up to 450 cm wide; R 125 — up to 425 cm high. Anything larger is made from several curtains, which is perfectly normal: the calculator will show you when a size falls outside the grid.
What is a marquisolette?
A screen with the top section carried forward on a 63 cm bracket: an awning against the high sun above, and a vertical curtain in guides below. It works well on south-facing windows, where the sun comes from above and from the side.
Will it stand up to wind?
ZIP systems are designed to work in wind. For cable systems the manufacturer limits the width: up to 300 cm with a wind bar, up to 350 cm on cables. A wind sensor raises the fabric by itself — on the coast and on exposed sites we always recommend one.
Can a screen be fitted to a finished house?
Yes. Surface-mounted cassette systems go onto a finished facade with no rebuilding — all you need is access to power for the motor, or a crank handle. Concealed installation (ZiiiP BOX) has to be planned in while the facade is being insulated.
What does it cost and what is included?
The price includes the cassette, guides or cables with brackets, the bottom bar and the fabric. Priced separately: the drive, the controls, a non-standard colour and delivery at 200 € per order. The most affordable exterior system in its smallest size starts from 145 € including VAT. Quotes are free; the exact price follows a professional survey.
